Episode 38: A Wobbly Federation of Tongues, Hands, Faces and Lungs
Lecture Performance by Marianne VlaschitsIn recent years, Marianne Vlaschits has started to consistently align her artistic practice with her stutter – with the “gaps and niches, the tiny craters in my speech,” as she likes to say. In the framework of the exhibition On a tongue's tip, at a world's lip, she presented A Wobbly Federation of Tongues, Hands, Faces and Lungs at the Kunstraum on 29.10.2025 – her lecture performance about her lived experience with disfluent speech. For our Im Kunstraum podcast, we produced an audio version of the performance. With a great deal of humor, Vlaschits explores how stuttering has shaped her life and her art, but also, what the imperative of eloquence has to do with capitalist notions of performance and productivity.
