Accessibility
The Kunstraum Niederösterreich is centrally located in Vienna's first district, about a ten-minute walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral. It is located in the inner courtyard of the Palais Niederösterreich and is accessible via a main entrance (on the left in the courtyard) and a side entrance (barrier-free, on the left in front of the courtyard). Until 1997, the Palais Niederösterreich was the seat of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government and is now used as a congress and event center.
Public transport:
The Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is connected to the U3 subway line (exit at “Herrengasse,” a two-minute walk to the Kunstraum).
By bike:
Cyclists will find bicycle parking spaces in the courtyard of the palace building, which can be used during the visit.
Barrier-free
Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is barrier free. The side entrance (on the left side in front of the courtyard, bell with Kunstraum logo) and the complete exhibition area are fully accessible on the ground level and suitable for visitors in wheelchairs. We have a public toilet with barrier-free access. Therapy dogs can be brought into the exhibitions.
We are constantly striving to improve our accessibility. If you have any needs that are not covered or not sufficiently covered by the above measures, please let us know at the information desk on site or before your visit: We are available during opening hours by phone (+43 1 90 42 111) and by email (office@kunstraum.net).
Here you will find information about parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities near the Kunstraum.
Code of Conduct
Every person who visits the Kunstraum and/or works with us should find an atmosphere in which they can feel comfortable and safe. This principle forms the core of our Code of Conduct: Inappropriate and/or discriminatory behavior – based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurotype, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, language, religion, and/or socioeconomic status – has no place at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich.
Invitation to stay a while
Together with the Vienna-based awareness collective AwA*, we have developed a concept with instructions for action which apply in cases of discrimination or other forms of unacceptable behavior in the Kunstraum. At the heart of our awareness concept (awareness: mindfulness/consciousness in our interactions with one another) are always the perspectives and needs of the person affected.
If you experience or witness iapropriate and/or discriminatory behavior during your visit, please contact us.
- On site: at the Kunstraum info desk or, in case of events, at the bar or by speaking to our awareness team
- By email: awareness@kunstraum.net
- And/or by phone: +43 1 90 42 111
We will support you with your request and work together to find a way to deal with the situation.
Invitation to stay a while
Even beyond visiting our exhibitions and events, you are welcome to spend time at the Kunstraum. In our reading area, you will regularly find a selection of publications that offer deeper insight into the content of our program and can be read on site. A changing table and toys for children, which we are happy to provide upon request, ensure that even our “little” visitors feel at home with us.
