Performance

A main objective of the Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is to support, present, and mediate knowledge about performance art. 

In the thematic focus, priority is dedicated to experimental, transdisciplinary formats and projects which reflect contemporary aesthetic and sociopolitical discourses. The Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is conceived as a site for the presentation of performance and as a space for reflections upon the content and methods of performance. In particular, it should serve as a platform for a younger generation of performance artists and audiences. 

Performance is an intrinsic programmatic component of the exhibitions, event series, and individual presentations. 

 

H13 Lower Austria Prize For Performance

Since 2007 the Kunstraum Niederoesterreich has awarded the “H13 Lower Austria Prize For Performance”. This to-date only prize for performance in Austria is announced on an annual basis. The decision is made by an international jury of theoreticians, artists, and Kunstraum staff, which is composed each year anew. The award-winning performance is presented in September at the Kunstraum Niederoesterreich.

SUMMER POEMSH - Summer Showing 2020

Each year, at the end of the summer term, the Department of Performative Art of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna organizes a performance event to showcase the works of their students. We are glad that we produced 2020´s summer showing together online! For the event, the participating students developed 18 video performances, most of which were recorded in the Kunstraum and can be watched here:
