Body, Space and Movement – Strategies of Perception of Space and Landscape
The show curated by Michael Goldgruber explores artistic strategies of perception and design of landscapes and spaces using extreme physical effort and similar physical presence. In line with the Aristotelian concept of space, that space is only perceptible and experienceable in movement, the artists in this exhibition concern themselves in very different ways with the measuring and pacing out of spaces and landscapes, as well as the re-shaping and re-modelling of them according to individual and selective patterns of perception.
The artists pace out distances and occupy landscapes. They analyse their architectural and topographical collection, cross boundaries and burst existing rules and norms.
In the age of medialisation and consumer-oriented shaping of landscape and space, works are presented that counteract the reception patterns associated with these phenomena and approach the issue with subtlety.
