Performance workshop (online) with Tiina Sööt & Dorothea Zeyringer
FR, 19 03 2021, 2:00 – 6:00 pm
In the run-up to their new project More or less (premiere in April at brut), the performance duo Sööt/Zeyringer offers the participants an insight into their artistic practice in the workshop Temporary collections. By using everyday movement, language and objects, Tiina Sööt and Dorothea Zeyringer create rhythmic and poetic structures. Thematically, the workshop approaches the subject of collections. Together with the participants Sööt/Zeyringer explores ways of forming personal collections and looks at possibilities to transform research into poetic and humorous images.
Objects that tell private stories become the starting point for performative exercises, which are shared in a collective setting. In a series of tasks short performances are created individually, in pairs, and in groups. Personal and collective decisions play with the meaning of the objects, their function, and performative potential.
Sööt/Zeyringer is an artist duo that collaborates since 2012 and creates performative work situated at the intersection of visual arts, dance and theatre. Their live performances and video works are based on movement and language which are combined in rhythmical and poetic structures. In their work they try to find beauty, poetry, wit and absurdity in every-day acts, language and objects. By putting seemingly insignificant moments into a new context, Sööt/Zeyringer’s work speaks about larger matters. Their works have been presented at brut Vienna, Tanzquartier Vienna, Sophiensaele Berlin, ,Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava Tallinn, Schauspiel Köln, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich and National Dance Center Bucharest among others. Sööt/Zeyringer were awarded a TURBO residency at ImPulsTanz Festival, the performing arts award from the Federal Chancellery of Austria, and the Young Stoff Award from Stockholm Fringe. In 2018 they were resident artists at Fleetstreet Residency Hamburg and in 2019 part of Freischwimmen - Platform for Performance and Theater.
