Fri, 17/11/2023, 2 – 5pm (CANCELED!)
We are sorry. The workshop had to be canceled. We warmly invite you to join us for the other program this day.
Workshop with Zas Ieluhee, in English
The exhibition will remain closed for visitors during this workshop.
The workshop Rom (Speak Out!): metabolizing rage (Rom means "Speak!" in the Baham language in Cameroon) is conceived as an emotional experiential space in which anger, rage, and frustration are put central – sensations that are often policed, if not completely made impossible for Black bodies, especially if they are femmes and/or queer. As a result, we have learned to control and silence this anger – which arguably is one of our greatest evils today.
The workshop encourages participants to express themselves while being provided a space of listening and sympathy. Through mindfulness meditation, body movement and psycho-somatic exercises, and emotional sharing, participants develop new interpretations of their past and a new appreciation of themselves, both individually and collectively.
Given its intense nature, this workshop is exclusively open and optimal for Black people/people of African descent already on their journey to self-actualization both politically and spiritually. Moreover, any Black individual willing to be vulnerable, an active listener and able to hold a safe space for a moment of communal healing is more than welcome to participate. For all other events on this day, everyone is cordially invited.
We kindly ask you to register for this workshop. Please do so by sending a short email to anmeldung@kunstraum.net. Alternatively you can call us: +43 1 90 42 111.
