Opening & Preview Wake Words

Opening evening: TH, 30 09 2021, 5 - 10 pm
7:00 pm short introduction, followed by a reading by Constanze Ruhm: Echo is dead

OK, Kunstraum! Although pandemic is not over yet, we can still plan a proper opening for the first time in a year and a half - with all the little things we’ve missed: welcoming words and drinks.

Join us for the opening of the show Wake Words on September 30, 2021 from 17:00.

The exhibition takes its starting point from the concept of voice recognition, and - on the one hand - examines our communication with Siri, Alexa, Google or Cortana - in other words, "voice assistance systems". On the other hand, the exhibition takes the ambiguity of voice recognition seriously: that recognizing often also implies acknowledging something or someone. What implicit presuppositions, what concept lies behind recognizing a voice as such? Who is heard, whose voice is just white noise, and what potential perhaps lies in disappearing into vocal opacity?

We look forward to welcoming you to the opening evening starting at 5:00 pm in Kunstraum; at 7:00 pm the exhibition will be opened with a short introduction and a reading by Constanze Ruhm (Echo is dead).

Due to the measures to contain COVID-19, registration for the  event is mandatory. Please register HERE.

For our events and art education offers, the "2,5-G rule" (vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested) currently applies. This means that you must show proof of a negative PCR test result, a completed vaccination or confirmation of a survived COVID-19 infection.
