Workshop Series within the Exhibition DURST

A cooperation between Kunstraum Niederoesterreich and Akademie geht in die Schule.

The workshop series and project presentation Anti-Vampire Camp is a project by Akademie geht in die Schule in cooperation with the course Art Mediation at the Institute for Art and Education at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and is directed by Carla Bobadilla and the production school Spacelab.

Curator Alice Wilke on the exhibition DURST:                            

"If we define vampirism as the symbolic depletion of energies and resources from other living beings and our environment, the term can be extended to parasitic relationships and toxic circumstances - and does not end with the fascinating figure of the living, blood-sucking undead."

Students of the Academy of Fine Arts and young people from the production school, Spacelab, will work together on the development and design of an anti-vampire kit in the framework of the exhibition DURST. What strategies do we need in everyday life to preserve our energy to take care of, and protect our resources? Is it necessary to take up complicated, somewhat old-fashioned and forgotten rituals?

The results from the workshops will be presented at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich.

Akademie geht in die Schule

The coordination center Akademie geht in die Schule at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna exerts itself to provide information about the study program as low-threshold as possible and thus to reach those who are currently underrepresented at the Academy. The central concern of the situation pertains to activities that show ways to study at the art university, as well as the creation of structures that enable access. The long-term goal is a reduction in educational inequality by means of forward-thinking initiatives, with a particular focus on the meaning and significance of intercultural education.

Based on selective and intermediate-term events, cooperations and workshop series, contacts are made, relationships with schools and extracurricular institutions are established, thus creating active and expanding networks.

Akademie geht in die Schule makes an effort to offer the formats that meet the respective needs of young people, within the framework of every cooperation.
