This year the annual H13 Niederoesterreich Prize for Performance has been awarded to artist Sara Lanner with her project MINE. Following the premiere of the award-winning project on September 8, 2021, we will present an accompanying exhibition from September 9 to 11, 2021, in which you can delve into Sara Lanner’s material studies and get deeper insights into the project via folded objects and various displays.

MINE explores the ethical implications of global mining processes. The word “mining” is used frequently in everyday language: Data mining means to source information, cryptocurrencies need to be mined, and not least, in our relationship with our organic and anorganic environment, we mine, excavate, or extract resources. But to what extent are these exploitation processes one-way streets, pure extractivism with drastic consequences for our environment? Can mining also take place from body to body, in a mutual exchange?
