Workshop GUERILLA GIRLS: Move along! Body extended!

  • Workshop duration: 2,5 hours
  • Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your mobile phone.

Would you like a little more? Always welcome! In this workshop we will take up the entire exhibition space of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich  to lengthen, widen and expand our bodies. We observe how we move with our bodies through the museum space and ask ourselves: How much space do we actually need? Does the human being need? Do I need?

A central topic of the women's movement was and is the use of space. Women still do not move in space as naturally as their male counterparts. But taking up space has to be learned.

For this purpose we build objects that expand our bodies and help us to claim space for ourselves. We explore how our perception of space, posture and movement changes through the self-built body-objects and how we, through the expansions, conquer space with self-confidence. We experiment with movements and objects and together we develop short performances, which we record as video clips. We change perspectives, observe and are observed, in front of and behind the (mobile) camera.

If you are interested in a workshop, girls’ clubs and girls' groups, as well as mixed groups are welcome to contact us. Participation is free!

GUERILLA GIRLS. Girls-Workshops in Kunstraum Niederoesterreich

Already in the 1980’s, the artist group Guerilla Girls asked the question "Do women have to be naked to get into the museum?" Named after the feminist pioneers who have been surveying representation in the field of art for thirty years, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich's GUERILLA GIRLS Workshop series provides a selective offer for girls in order to discuss issues such as emancipation and self-determination with young women.
