Not only during the COVID 19 pandemic do viruses play a major role in our lives: When videos "go viral" in social media, for example, not viruses infect us mutually, but content or accounts from popular media such as TikTok, Youtube or Instagram. Especially in the case of viral video content, it is not just fun or creativity behind the success, but rather the algorithms that suggest content to us. Algorithms are the rules that social media software follows. In the workshop Caution, contagious! we will question why some content infects us and others do not. After exploring our internet behaviour together and showing us videos that - we think - should go viral, we take a closer look at Christiane Pescheks artistic work Velvet Fields to discuss the "made" character of digital images. We will also take a closer look at the qaul.net project by artists Christoph Wachter and Mathias Jud. In the practical part of the workshop we will then we dedicate ourselves to our own form of witchcraft: Meme Magic!

GUERILLA GIRLS. Girls-Workshops in Kunstraum Niederoesterreich

Already in the 1980’s, the artist group Guerilla Girls asked the question "Do women have to be naked to get into the museum?" Named after the feminist pioneers who have been surveying representation in the field of art for thirty years, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich's GUERILLA GIRLS Workshop series provides a selective offer for girls in order to discuss issues such as emancipation and self-determination with young women.
