Digging into the Archive. An Exemplary Evocation of a Performance II

FRI, 20 11 2020, 3:00 - 7:00 pm

Performance workshop as part of the VIENNA ART WEEK
Concept: Performatorium (Olivia Jaques and Marlies Surtmann)

For the second part of „Digging into the Archive'“ we have invited the artist Malu Blume and together we continue the investigation of her past performance „But they don't seem to go away“ (Performancereihe 2017, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich). By „Digging into the Archive“ we want to „exhume“ the performance from the archive of and together with the artist reconstruct it with a systematic analysis. The project demands the end of contemplation: not a re-enactment, but a forensic composition of the traces, a physical recreation of a past event.

Artists and everyone interested in performance art are invited to participate in this experiment. The project is embedded in a research project for archiving performance art and is divided into two parts. A participation in the preceding workshop in July 2020 would be an advantage, but is not required.

By participating in the workshop, the participant agrees that recordings and illustrations of the workshop, as well as illustrations of any (artistic) results within the research project "Archiving Performance Art? On the Archiving, Transmission and Mediation of an Art Form in Motion" may be published and used for further research.

The number of participants is limited due to the COVID-19 protection measures, so please register via e-mail: , Subject: Wühlen im Archiv II.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the hygiene measures, we will be happy to provide you with information. Our employees have been instructed in the applicable hygiene and clearance rules and would like to make your stay with us an enjoyable one.

Digging into the Archive  is a collaboration project between Performatorium Vienna and Kunstraum Niederoesterreich.
